McKayla Rose Maroney has retired as an American artist and gymnast. She was awarded the gold and silver medals at the vault competitions for both the American gymnastics team as well as the Fierce Five in the Summer Olympics in 2012. Early years. McKayla Rose Maroney is the daughter of Erin Maroney and Mike Maroney. (died 2019.) McKayla was raised in Aliso Vejo, California. McKayla is daughter of Mike and Erin Maroney (died 2019).
